Some quarantine prayers...

HELLO MY FRIENDS !!!!

***The extrovert in me aggressively waving at every single human (and animal) that passes by me on my neighborhood quarantine walks. Is anyone else with me on this one?

***I’m slightly concerned that my waving / greeting game is getting to be a little TOO aggressive / desperate. Hmm…

***Did you need to see three images, side by side by side, of me waving? Nope. But, did I want you to feel REALLY well-greeted when you stumbled upon this very blog post? Yup. I hope this occurred for you. Yes, you!

I’m here today, simply, to say this to you….

  1. I pray that you are praying, to God, in this time.

  2. He hears your prayers.

  3. It’s okay that, sometimes, your prayers feel heavy because you’re being honest with Him. He’s not afraid of your emotions.

Here’s a peak inside some of my quarantine prayers

that I’ve yelled, whispered and sang as of recent…

(All verses are click-able, if you’d like to read and be encouraged along side of me!)

giphy.gif

“God, help me to not worry today. You are in control.” (Matthew 6:34)

“God, I trust you with my business. ***Repeats, 7x70 times.” (Psalm 9:10)

“God, wait…what is happening?” (Proverbs 3:5)

“God, please take care of my family. Because I literally can’t be there to do it.” (Again, Matthew 6:25-34)

“God, why aren’t more people inviting me to Zoom game nights?” (Couldn’t find the perfect verse…)

beats-me.gif

“God, I trust that you will provide what I need.” (Luke 12:22-26)

“God, please stop this virus. I know that you’re way bigger than COVID-19, even if we capitalize all of the letters in it’s name and we only capitalize the first of yours.” (Matthew 19:26)

“God, I was afraid today. I don’t want to be stuck in fear. Help me! I know there isn’t fear in Love!” (1 John 4:18)

“God, can you please kindly convict anyone who is spreading false information?” (Romans 2:4)

“Jesus, can you actually take the wheel? I’m gonna nap in the passenger seat until we get to wherever this sketchy side road seems to be taking us. Feet on the dashboard and all. I’m just glad that you know the directions.” (Jeremiah 32:27)

jesus take.gif

“God, I need a lot more peace today than I did yesterday. Send some ASAP! Thanks! I know you have buckets of it to share!” (Philippians 4:6-7)

“God, for 30 minutes straight, I compared myself to others on instagram and it made me sad, a little bit angry, unaccomplished and disappointed in myself. I know that’s not how I’m meant to live. Forgive me! Thanks for making me unique and beautiful!” (Psalm 139:13-16)

“God, you are REALLY powerful!” (Jeremiah 10:12)

“Hey…could you make calories not count in quarantine?

Because…like…cookies exist. Asking for a friend!”

(LMK if you have the perfect, encouraging, non-convicting verse for this one. I want to feel good. Not bad.)

raw.gif

“My God is so BIG, so strong and so mighty. There’s nothing my God cannot do!’ ***Sings!”

“Your plans are way better than anything I could come up with!” (Romans 8:28)

“God, I’m really glad that you are all knowing and that I’m not.” (1 John 3:20)

I would love to hear some of your quarantine prayers. Serious. Funny. Angelic. Whatever they may be, again, He hears them. He is powerful. And He knows what’s best, even if we think that we have better ideas. We most definitely do not.

COMMENT WITH SOME OF YOUR PRAYERS, PLEASE!

God bless each of you cool cats and kittens!

So, so sincerely, Sarah Gehman

Hawaii Farm Wedding - Big Island, Sunshower Farms Wedding

This. Day. Was. Fun.

You KNOW that it’s gonna be a great wedding when…the famous lamb, “Sheepira”, from Sunshower Farms, makes an appearance for some couple’s portraits! The florals were TO DIE FOR. No surprise when Lalamilo Flower Girl is the florist. She’s a floral wizard!!! The food was delicious. And Breanna + Alex had an intimate group of their closest family and friends fly out the the Big Island of Hawai’i for their mountain side wedding. WHAT A DREAM!

Alex + Breanna, alllllll the best to you both!

Romantic Kona, Hawaii Sunrise Couple's Session

Kyle + Julia’s romantic sunrise couple’s session in Kona was ORIGINALLY supposed to be a sunset session, two days prior. But, Hawaii had other plans for us, apparently…because we showed up to the beach and it started raining. Really raining. And, sadly, there was no sign that it would be stopping any time soon. So, we found another date and time to do their session and it ended up being a PERFECT, colorful Hawaii sunrise!

Which ones are your favorite? The wide shots OR the joyful close up?

Honestly…I make sure to get a mix of both when I’m shooting. It’s my fave!

I’m (not so secretly) hoping that these photos convince you to get your buns over here to the Big Island!

Romantic Big Island Wedding - Private Estate, Waimea, HI

Sara + Andy are so in love with each other, so full of joy and such kind, well-loved people. So, their wedding day was easy breezy and I loved being in on the fun. One of my most favorite things about being a wedding photographer (especially on the Big Island) is that I get to see couples express themselves, their quirks and the personalization that they bring to THEIR wedding day.

This wedding was so unique on SO many levels. The ceremony was part Quaker, part Jewish and there was also a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The couple had temporary tattoos for their guests, each one was SO meaningful and carried a story. Example: one of the tattoos was a “Mobil” gas station sign…because they got engaged at a gas station. (*Cue all of “The Office” fans thinking…”Like Jim + Pam?!”…that was my first thought, too!)

AND, as if the day could have gotten any more fun and unique…the groom, Andy, performed! He is a SUPER talented singer and song writer with his band “Andy Suziki and The Method.” Goooo run and download all of their music! My personal favorite song is “Medicine.”

BUT, he wrote and performed a song for his darling bride, Sara. Even Sara performed a love song with Andy! And there were a few other songs, too! It was a dream and so very unique. Moral of the story…this day rocked and I HIGHLY recommend for any couples that are planning their weddings right now…BE UNIQUE! Do things that are out of the box and express who you are as a couple!

This romantic Big Island wedding was a dream and, as always, BIG THANKS to all of the amazing vendors for making this day so magical and stunning! (Click on each name to stalk each vendors website!)

Big Island Proposal - Black Sand Beach, Hawaii

Aaron contacted me weeks ago asking if I would be a part of capturing his proposal to his girlfriend Kat.

I. Live. For. These. Kinds. Of. Emails.

We planned the whole session and kept it a purrrrfect surprise! Aaron already had his mind set on the ever-enchanting black sand beach on the Big Island called, Polulu Valley. Aaron was the sweetest and chose to give me the “signal” that he was about to propose by praying with his soon-to-be-fiance. When they stood forehead to forehead in the trees, I knew it was time to hop up and stop pretending like I was a random tourist hiker, sitting on the ground taking a rest. Alone. Ha! But, I think my acting worked! I hopped up and caught the moment JUST in time. I love a good shot of adrenaline like this one. It’s good I stretched, too.

YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT SHE SAID YES!!!!

Please enjoy each of these sweet, sweet photos of Aaron + Kat and their engagement photos as they were fiance-ed to each other for just an hour. Who is going to pop the question next?! Hmm. *shrug

Cliffside Hawaiian Proposal | Big Island, Hawaii

I’m so thankful, today, friends!

I’ll never, ever, EVER get sick of photographing proposals. This Big Island cliffside proposal was SO SWEET. Drew wanted something different than the typical beachside, sunset proposal. So, he opted for a cliffside proposal session and I’m so, so glad he did. The weather was a litttttle funky and overcast all day because… it’s hurricane season and we have two on the way! Even though they hurricanes “Erick” and “Flossie” gave us some stormy weather, CRAZY waves and some serious wind…the sunsets have been UNREAL.

Drew + Victoria have been together for about five years and…(spoiler alert)

SHE SAID YES!!!

Are you or a pal coming to Hawaii soon?! Let’s book you a unique, fun session to capture your time here!

Tropical Hawaiian Tree House Proposal

Listen up. Being a Big Island photographer MOST DEFINITELY has its perks.

But one of the absolute best perks is being asked to be a part of so, so many travelers special moments. Weddings, engagements and family photos are my norm…but, when you’re asked to photograph a surprise proposal in a tropical Hawaiian treehouse…YOU SAY YES A MILLION TIMES!!!

Mihir planned a trip to Hawai’i for Kanika and he surprised her with a romantic few nights booked in an INCREDIBLE tropical tree house in the Volcano side of the Big Island! He told her that he booked them a romantic photo session while they were in Hawaii and she said she didn’t have any suspicions!

Sooo, when we started their session it went a little something like this…

Intimate Pennsylvania Barn Vow Renewal

Krystal + Saad have been married for ten and a half years - so beautiful, right?! A milestone ABSOLUTELY worth being celebrated! It poured rain almost the entire afternoon and evening but we had the perfect window of opportunity to pop outside of the beautiful Wyndridge Farm for a few couple’s portraits. Their renewal ceremony was so tender. They love each other so, so much. They emphasized to me, multiple times, that this day was more about celebrating and honoring their closest friends and family. This day was essentially a “thank you” party for the besties that have loved them well and urged them on in the ten and a half years Krystal + Saad have had together.

I want to be like Krystal + Saad when I grow up.

SIDE NOTE: I wish I could teleport EACH of you reading this back in time to hear two of their sons read their handwritten letters to their mom and dad. You would have melted, too.

Enjoy these photos of a family that is strong, in love with each other AND with Jesus.

Intimate Big Island Hawaii Elopement - Pololu Valley

Kali + Zack wanted an intimate ceremony and they had their minds set on getting married on a beautiful black sand beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. Who could blame them, right?! Black sands beach have an other-worldly feel to them. They hiked down into the valley, found the perfect spot to say “I do!” and then made some SERIOUS photo magic. Alyssa photographed their elopement and I was drooling as I edited these GLORIOUS photos! Kali + Zack - ya’ll are absolutely adorable and I’m praying for their very best for the two of you!

Seeeeee for yourself, friends!

Jenson Button + Brittany Ward, Hawaii Maternity Sunset Photos

Being a photographer on the Big Island of Hawai’i is never dull. Between the colorful sunsets and the endless amounts of awesome people that travel here to visit Hawai’i …it’s always exciting! I love meeting new people! Brittany and I connected on Instagram when I saw that her and Jenson were visiting the Big Island and we set up a Hawaiian sunset baby moon session for them! We hung out on the ever so beautiful Four Seasons Hualalai beaches and captured some Hawaiian style photos for the two of them before they parted ways and had to leave the next day.

Brittany is such a BABE and makes being pregnant look effortless and let’s be real…this is going to be one cute baby child! Right?!

Waipio Valley Elopement Adventure Session | Hawaii Photographer | Hawaii Elopement

To put this simply….

I was only booked for a one hour elopement with these Lana + Felix, but we went over an hour over. I quite literally lost track of time photographing their love and I’d do it ALL flippin’ over again! They are the sweed-est couple from Swedan. (See what I did there?! I promise I know how to spell sweet, guys!) They have been together over ten years it was about time for the two of them to tie the knot, and, what better place to do that than the infamous Waipi’o Valley?!

The weather was perfect. Their smiles were on point. AND, we even had a little visit from the wild horses!

Are you convinced to elope in Hawaii yet?!

***BONUS: This Waipi’o Valley elopement was also featured on Wandering Weddings! (Click to see!)

Big Island Maternity Session | Kona Hawaii Photographer

I met Danni + Nolan seven years ago here on this island. We were all doing schools with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and lived in the same building so we bumped shoulders often! They are both the sweetest so when Danni messaged me asking for maternity photos on their babymoon, the answer was so obvious ya’ll!!!

This was one of my favorite maternity sessions I’ve done to date! Hope you love the photos!

VMFA Wedding | Art Museum Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographer | Benny + Rachel

Benny and I met a few years ago through a ministry we were both a part of and when I got an email from Rachel + Benny asking if I was available to shoot their wedding…and they mentioned that it was going to be in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, well, how could I say no?!

I’m so glad I got to be a part of their wedding day. Their church that they got married in was stunning and I had to hold off delivering more images of the architecture and details of the CHURCH rather than the wedding itself. Oops! Ha! ALSO shooting in front of huge murals was a dream and I’d love to do it again….***Hint, hint, if you’re getting married in a museum - invite me!!

Enjoy Rach + Benn'y’s wedding day photos!

Would YOU celebrate your wedding day in an art museum?!

-Sarah

Pil C + Nat Engaged | Mauna Kea Proposal | Hawaii Photographer

If you ever come to visit the Big Island of Hawaii, you MUST go visit the one and only Mauna Kea. It will (literally) take your breath away as you watch the sunset above the clouds at almost 14,000 feet. I’ve been there so many times now, but it doesn’t get old. Ever.

This trip was extra, super duper special because…

I had the incredible honor of photographing Pil C + Nat’s proposal and it was a complete surprise. These two are visiting Hawaii from Slovakia and it’s clearly the perfect place to pop the question! They were so, so sweet and I loved every minute of documenting their proposal.

Pil C is a famous rapper and Nat is a fashion blogger - follow along! @pil_c & @natykerny

Maui Wedding | Maui Wedding Photographer | Little Beach | Maui Tropical Plantation

Angela + Kevin are from the East Coast but they flew alllll of their wedding attire to Hawaii just so they could have their dream photo session in Hawaii. That’s my kind of couple, friends! We explored Maui Tropical Plantation and then headed to the famous Little Beach to get the perfect mix of photos for their honeymoon session.

Can you find the little rainbow?

Photographed for Kelilina Photography

Big Island Wedding | Hawaii Elopement | Pololu Valley Elopement | Nikki + Dominic

Nikki + Dominic’s intimate elopement was as dreamy as they come. The weather was perfection, love (and humidity) was in the air (how cheesy am i?!) and it all took place in one of my favorite places on the Big Island - Pololu Valley.

We hiked down into the valley, wedding dress and suit in hand, and walked until we found the perfect spot to tie the knot. Who does that?! THESE TWO! I loved every flippin’ minute of it. They got married, popped champagne and we ran around and took beautiful photos of beautiful people in a beautiful place on a beautiful day. Yup, it was beautiful enough to say the word beautiful four times in one sentence. I just have to be speak truly of the day!

I hope that you love these photos as much as this chick does.

***Pointing at myself with thumbs, obviously!

And if you don’t, well…God bless your buns anyway.

Stephanie + Josh | Drumore Estate | Pennsylvania Fall Wedding

Stephanie + Josh’s fall wedding at the one and only Drumore Estate (AKA one of the classiest wedding venues in Lancaster, PA) was obviously stunning all around, ya’ll. Katherine did a KILLER job photographing their wedding day story. Steph is my (Sarah) childhood bestie’s little sister. So, Steph is basically another little sister to me, so this wedding couldn’t have been more special for my team to be a part of!
